It’s your choice, but really, all you are doing is paying other people’s tax for them (think about it).

You have LESS chance of being hit by lightning. How often is that going to happen IN YOUR ENTIRE LIFE let alone this Thursday?

In fact, you ARE being hit by “lightening” your wallet!

OK. If it gives you a little lift in life, go ahead. But you are better off betting on the horses.

You’ll still lose in the long run, but you’ll have plenty of laughs and wins with your losses. And lots of things to try.

Don’t bet what you can’t afford to lose, because like my husband, you WILL lose at the races over time. If that wasn’t the case, bookmakers would have become extinct centuries ago.

Poker machines? You’re kidding right? Put good money in – take less money out. Over and over and over again. Not for me.

One lottery thing I do, though, is buy scratch tickets for friends in hospital. Better than grapes. Every morning for a week or so after your visit they have another scratch. Keeps them looking forward to another day in hospital, which can get quite boring.

Most just don’t perform as well as you can do.

Much of the time they suggest products that are known poor performers because they gain commissions for doing so.

Who else would you employ to do a worse job than you more often than not, and then have to pay a fee for the  privilege?

Always refuse the  offer of an extended warranty.

Numerous studies prove that over a lifetime you will never break even and always lose by taking an extended warranty.

They offer in the hope that you will say yes. For the retailer, it’s money for nothing.

This hint is absolutely guaranteed to save you money. Lots over a lifetime.

NEVER lend money to anyone. Just don’t do it.

Almost everyone I know, including myself , has lent money at some time and lost the friend – or even family member (!) by doing this one very silly thing. And you know, something? No-one likes you more for lending to them. So strange…

Now, of course, give money away if you can afford to, and want to, but…

…just DON’T lend.

Before you buy anything, check if you can get it cheaper somewhere else. Avoid impulse buying until you have found the CHEAPEST PRICE (but so few people do!). Remember, let some other idiot buy it where you saw it first.

And ALWAYS ask if you can get it at a discount price. Be happy to smile and walk out the door with a passing shot:

“Are you sure you can’t sell it cheaper than that? Cash?”

Make it your new personality.

Have only one credit card – one with no annual fee – and…

NEVER EVER EVER pay interest on it.

That is, always – yes ALWAYS – pay off the debt before interest kicks in.

If you can’t afford something, do without.

The banks are banking on you not being able to do it.

Prove them wrong.
